In commemoration of World Health Day , WHO in cooperation with the United Nations Information Centre in Tripoli, hosted an award ceremony for schoolchildren who partook in the annual WHO sponsored art competition for students between the ages of 7 and 18.
The competition gives children an avenue to express their understanding through art of how they see the issues affecting World Health. This years competition looked at Climate Change and Health as its key message. Nine students of different ages from across Libya won awards, at both national and regional levels. The awards were presented by the UN Resident Coordinator, the WHO Representative to Libya, and an official from the General Peoples Committee for Education. Three of this year’s winners came joint third within the entire region, and were given an commemorative prize in addition to the certificate. The other winners were selected from a national pool of excellent young artists.
Below are the winning paintings, with the names and ages of the young artists.
