On
16th June, the UNDP Libya signed its first preparatory
assistance initiative with the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) in Capacity Development in the
energy sector.
UNDP will strategically support GECOL in mapping its capacity
development activities as part of GECOL?s 10 year investment
programme that seeks to expand Libya?s generating capacity.
GECOL?s Chairman, Mr. Uneas expressed GECOL?s readiness to
collaborate with UNDP and also conveyed his interest in
cooperating with the UNDP in other areas.
This moment also marks the first programme initiative being
launched under the leadership of Mrs Costanza Farina, UNDP
Libya?s new Resident Representative since her arrival in May.
