The UNDP Office in Libya is pleased to announce
the approval of its new Country Programme 2011-2014 by the
UNDP/UNFPA Executive Board in its session on Tuesday 29th June
2010 in Geneva.
The UNDP Regional Director for Arab States, Ms Amat El Alim El
Soswa presented the new Country Programme to the Executive
Board. In her address to the Executive Board, Ms. El Soswa
highlighted that "the underlying theme of the new CPD is
capacity development at institutional and policy level aimed at maximising the UNDP added value to the Government's efforts to
address national development priorities and challenges..".
In terms of priority areas, the new Country Programme focuses on
Enhancing public service delivery, strengthening national
environment management systems and supporting national efforts
on economic diversification. Underlying these areas are the
cross-cutting themes of gender equality, youth and capacity
development.
Mr. Mustafa El Alam, who headed the Libyan Delegation took the
floor after the presentation by Ms. El Soswa and confirmed the
alignment of the new country programme with national priorities.
Mr. El Alam, in his intervention, commended the work of the UNDP
showing appreciation to the support it is providing to the
Libyan government and conveyed Libya's interest in further
strengthening its relationship with the UNDP.
