On the 13th October, the United Nations Development Programme
(UNDP) in Libya launched the preparation of its first ever
Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) at a workshop at the
Radisson Blu hotel in Tripoli. The session brought together over
35 government officials representing various General Peoples
Committees and government authorities and UNDP Libya programme
staff. The CPAP workshop was co chaired with Essam Garba from
the General Peoples Committee of Planning Finance and is the
first in a series of meetings aimed at identifying concrete
development initiatives and programmes within the areas of
strategic cooperation reflected within the framework of the new
Country Programme (2011-2014) which was approved by the
UNDP/UNFPA Executive Board in June 2010.
In her opening remarks, the UNDP Resident Representative, Mrs.
Costanza Farina pointed out that the CPAP exercise was an
important event as it ‘serves as an instrument to clarify more
in details the key strategic cooperation areas already agreed
upon in the Country Programme'.
